Advanced Program in Clinical Research
This curriculum comprises of:
1. Clinical Research:
It is a systematic study of new drugs on human subjects to generate data for discovery and verification of clinical, pharmacological (pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics) or adverse effects with the objective of determining safety and efficacy of the new drug.
2. Clinical Data Management:
It is a process that leads to generation of quality, reliable and statistically analyzed data of clinical trials. It ensures collection, integration, validation and extraction of data at appropriate levels.
3. Pharmacovigilance:
It is a science relating to collection, detection, assessment, monitoring and prevention of adverse effects with pharmaceutical products.
4. Medical Writing:
It applies the principles of clinical research in developing clinical trials documents that effectively describes research results, product use and other medical information.
5. Medical Coding:
It is the transformation of health-care diagnosis, procedures and medical services into universal medical alpha numeric codes. The diagnosis and procedure codes are taken from a medical record documentation such as physician’s notes, laboratory and radiological reports. Medical coding requires the ability to understand anatomy, physiology, details of the services and rules and regulations of the payers to succeed.
6. US Healthcare System:
Since every health data has to be digitalized, so emergence of electronic medical record EMR/EHR in US Healthcare System generated lot of job opportunities, as most of the work are outsourced here in India. Overview provided for EMR, Provider, Payer concepts. Also given importance of Medical Coding from Provider and Payer perspectives.
